THERAPY FOR HIGH-MASKING AUTISTIC & AuDHD ADULTS
Heal from trauma, reconnect with yourself,
and create a life that fits.
I specialize in supporting late-diagnosed and self-identifying Autistic and AuDHD adults (20+), with a particular focus on women, queer, trans, and nonbinary clients.
Practicing in Spokane, Washington and virtually throughout the state.
You see yourself as highly self-aware, capable, and independent.
You’ve been known for your resiliency.
Not because you chose to be. But rather, because you didn’t have a choice.
“Shame dies when stories are told in safe spaces.”
→ Feel disconnected from your body, emotions, or sense of self.
→ Know why you feel the way you do but still struggle to change old patterns or regulate overwhelming emotions.
→ Feel misunderstood, “too much,” not good enough, or like a burden.
→ Feel exhausted from masking, people-pleasing, perfectionism, and holding everything together.
→ Struggle to feel safe, seen, and understood in your relationships.
→ Find that experiences from the past continue to show up in your present, even when you desperately want to move forward.
→ Are praised for your self-awareness and strength while privately feeling lost, stuck, or worthless.
Maybe you:
You didn't need to be stronger.
You needed to feel safe.
In Our Work Together
Often, Autistic/AuDHDers navigate the world through masking, perfectionism, people-pleasing, intellectualization, and social pressures; however, in time this leads to feeling emotionally, physically, and mentally numb, burnt out, irritated, overwhelmed, and quite simply, DONE. Nothing matters and everyone- EVERYTHING- is annoying.
Therapy can help you understand your specific patterns of functioning, heal the experiences that hurt you along the way, develop skills to accommodate your specific needs (sensory and otherwise), and instill compassion for who you are and how you show up in this world. The work will be neurodivergent affirming led, meaning it’s coming from a place of authentic understanding and believing.
-
Work through relational, developmental, and sexual trauma and the ways those experiences continue to affect your sense of safety, relationships, and connection with yourself.
-
Learn to recognize your needs, trust your inner knowing, set and maintain boundaries, and separate what you genuinely want from what you’ve learned to do to keep others comfortable.
-
Explore the ways masking, perfectionism, people-pleasing, and cultural and social pressures have shaped your life and discover ways of being that feel more sustainable and authentic.
-
Build relationships, routines, and choices that honor who you actually are.
Therapy that helps you build the authentic life you deserve.
I aim to create a neuro-affirming space that works for you, your brain, and your nervous system.
Depending on your needs, therapy may incorporate trauma processing (EMDR), nervous-system regulation, somatic healing, parts work (IFS), and other evidence-based approaches.
The goal isn’t to teach you how to mask the way society expects.
It's to help you feel safer being you.
Hi! I’m Anna (she/they)
So glad you’re here.
I'm a late-diagnosed AuDHD, genderqueer therapist who understands how complicated it can be to build a life that actually fits when you've spent years learning how to adapt to everyone else's expectations.
I created Changing Tides Counseling to offer a neuro-affirming, trauma-informed space that neurodivergent people feel safe accessing. You will feel seen, heard, understood, and accepted. You no longer have to hide all of the parts of you.
I welcome you to show up as you are.
Life is a bitch.
You don’t have to go at it alone.
